WHen you look at Precious and her mother and their relationship, you are being encouraged to look at a number of issues too: physical and sexual abuse, poverty, educational deprivation, abuse of the well-fare system etc.Therefore we have a lot to comment upon the context of the representations from a social and economic perspective. The question is how does this highly depressing representation fit in the modern context of a progressive multi-cultural US with a black president? How are we encouraged as an audience to respond to Precious?
So, though I think you have put some effort into this, there is quite a lot further that you must go.
